The front prep is very similar to the back, so I’ll only go over the differences. The front is made of spruce and will be made of two pieces that are “book matched.” I first cut thick piece into two pieces. I then flattened and trued up the edges that will be glued together. Below the two pieces are lined up and marked with a triangle across them so I can align them and ensure the right sides are matched up when glueing.

A thick hide glue was then prepared and rubbed on one edge. Working quickly, one piece was rubbed together with other piece creating a “rub joint.” With a rub joint, the pieces suction together and clamps are not needed.

Here the pieces are shown glued together. The rest of preparing and cutting out the front matches the back.
